THE CARAPANA PROJECT

Improving more lives thanks to You and Chacrona

As more and more amazing people wear our Chacrona, we can commit even further in preserving the Amazon rainforest and its true guardians, the local tribes. Since March 2021 we’ve been working with Guardianes de Vida, to improve the lives of the indigenous tribes of Carapana.

As more and more amazing people wear our Chacrona, we can commit even further in preserving the Amazon rainforest and its true guardians, the local tribes. Since March 2021 we’ve been working with Guardianes de Vida, to improve the lives of the indigenous tribes of Carapana.

Where is Carapana?

In the heart of the Brazilian Amazon jungle, 62,000 hectares adjacent to Bolivia and Peru. The beautiful indigenous territory is named ‘Praia do Carapana’ and is found in the state of Acre.

The indigenous communities that we’re helping comprise of 12 tribes with a population of approximately 800 people. 73% of the population is under 23 years of age.

Our Big First Step

What we’ve achieved so far

13,300

Indigenous trees

Have been planted, ensuring food for the tribes and wood to build their homes. Many of them are Chacrona.

3

Nurseries

We’ve built tree nurseries in the Agua Viva village allowing the community to repopulate their own species of trees for self-sufficiency.

Increased the tribes’ knowledge

About first aid, how to use plants as medicine, environmental protection and reforestation.

And we’re far from finished...

We will continue to plant 700 trees per month, we’ve got 3,500 new trees on their way.

We’re building a school not just for the kids, but as a space to facilitate training and the promotion of the tribe’s culture.”

We will continue to provide resources for the community and attend to their basic needs so that everyone has access to food, doctors and medicines.

We’ll continue to empower them. Preserving their culture through crafts, dance and music.
